Creativity and Innovation at Work

Creativity and Innovation at Work!Are you stuck in your “paradigms”? Do you like the “status quo”? Well, it’s time for you to start to think “out of the box” and consider other ways of doing things!

In order to ensure long-term success in your industry, no matter what it is, it's imperative that you and others in your organization challenge your thinking and develop new and better ways of accomplishing your work. Personal and corporate futures can change when you tap into your creativity skills.

Upon completion of the "Creativity and Innovation at Work" training workshop, you will be able to effectively:

  • Use your personal creativity to develop innovative ways of accomplishing your work tasks while meeting and even exceeding business goals ;
  • Tap into your personal “creativity quotient”;
  • Present your ideas to others in order to secure agreement;
  • Identify the steps for implementing improvement opportunities.

This workshop will provide you with an opportunity to examine some of the roadblocks that prevent you from applying creativity in your workplace. You will leave the workshop with a toolkit of techniques that can be applied to address workplace problems in a more innovative manner.

Here are a few common problems that hinder innovation in the workplace:

  • Employees are afraid to take “calculated or educated” risks.
  • The working environment does not support those who take risks.
  • Employees get caught up in the day-to-day tasks of a job and do not have time or occasion to take a step back and think about how to improve a process.
  • Employees get stuck in their “paradigms”.

These are a just a few of the common AVOIDABLE problems that keep employees from creating and implementing new ideas in the workplace! During this 2-day Creativity and Innovation at Work training workshop you will learn key strategies for unleashing your creativity and turning it into workplace innovation. This highly participative, learner-centered course will provide you with the tools and skills to create more effective ways of accomplishing your business goals.

Key Topics Include:

  • Paradigms: We all are trapped in our paradigms, at least to some extent. We have ideas about how the dishwasher should be loaded, how towels should be folded and how particular work should be done. The challenge is to let go of these “paradigms” so that we can see and accept the possibilities of new and improved ways of accomplishing a task. You will have an opportunity to identify some of your personal paradigms and explore the importance of being open to new and different ideas.

  • Building A Climate for Creativity and Innovation: An individual may have many good innovative ideas, however if the workplace climate does not support creative thinking or the implementation of new ways of doing business, then creativity can quickly disappear and be replaced with complacency. You will analyze your current working environment and develop strategies for creating an environment that supports workplace innovation.

  • Turning Creativity into Innovation: How do you take a creative idea and turn it into workplace innovation? Through hands-on activities, you will experiment with 10 creativity tools and techniques and apply them to a common workplace problem using a simple problem-solving model. You will leave with a "toolkit" of techniques that you will be able to use to help others to tap into their creative ideas.
