Problem Solving in TeamsHave you ever had to work with a "work around" - a procedure that allowed you to complete your task, even though you had to "trick" the system in order to get it done? Or you may have put a solution into place only to discover later that it didn't really fix the problem.

Today's workplace is full of problems. Technology and new products and services are being introduced at an unbelievable rate and we often end up living with process issues and problems on a day-to-day basis. And yet, when we take the time to solve these problems, both the business and the individual employees prosper!

Upon completion of the "Problem Solving in Teams" training workshop you will be able to effectively:

  • Use a variety of tools and techniques to generate ideas;
  • Identify the steps involved in generating and implementing improvement opportunities;
  • Use a problem solving model;
  • Present your ideas to others in order to secure agreement.

We often revert to using the “same old” techniques to approach problems and we often jump right from the problem to a solution without taking the time to really identify all of the possible causes. As a result, solutions are sometimes implemented that don’t really solve the problem that had been identified.

You will leave this 1-day Problem Solving in Teams training workshop with a toolkit of techniques that can be applied to address workplace problems in a more innovative and effective manner. This highly participative, learner-centered problem solving workshop will provide you with the tools and skills to identify workplace problems and work to resolve them in an individual or team setting.

Key Topics Include:

  • Tools and Techniques: You will have the opportunity, through hands-on activities, to learn and experiment with 10 creativity tools and techniques that are simple to use and easy to share with others in your workplace.

  • Problem Solving: It’s easy to jump right from the problem to a solution that “sounds good”. So often, however, we fail to STOP and really take the time to analyze all of the contributing factors – the result is that sometimes solutions are implemented that don’t really solve the problem. During this Problem Solving in Teams training workshop, you will learn and work with a simple problem solving model that shows you how to go from identifying the problem right through to implementation and evaluation…while staying on track!

  • Presenting Ideas to Others: It can be very frustrating when you have worked hard to come up with a new idea or solution only to have others in your organization resist or even dismiss it. We will identify the steps and key ideas that you need to consider when presenting your ideas to others in order to increase the likelihood of gaining their “buy-in”.
